Adding guest/recipient contact information

In order to send invitations or cards to recipients directly through our site, you need to add contact information to your guest or recipient list. We respect your privacy and will not use contact information indiscriminately.

For an ecard, each recipient is treated as one person. However, for an event, each guest is treated as a party. When creating an event, you get the option to choose the number of people in a guest's party. At a minimum, we require at least one contact method (email address, postal address) for any ecard, invitation or greeting card recipient. You can also provide us with complete address and contact information which will enable you to easily send printed cards/invitations to recipients. You can enter this contact information manually for each recipient, or use our tools to easily import it.

Adding guests/recipients manually for an event/ecard

You do not need to have a complete guest/recipient list before sending an invitation or ecard. You can add guests or recipients to an invitation or ecard that has already been sent by using the "add guests/contacts" icon on the event management page. It is not possible to add recipients to a printed greeting card that has already been sent, or to an invitation for a past event.

In the "guest list/recipient list" tab, you can manually add contact information in two ways:

1) Use the "quick add" method to enter names and email addresses (or just email addresses) into the box provided. Email addresses should be separated by commas or by using the TAB or RETURN keys. You can also copy and paste multiple email addresses at once from your email program, address book, or another document. Please be sure to click the "add to guest/recipient list" button to add the guests/recipients to your guest/recipient list.

2) Use the "postal recipients" method to enter each guest's mailing address and other details.

If you select a party greater than one for a guest, you will be given the option to specify names for members of that party. For instance, if you entered a name of "Smith Family" for a guest and selected 3 as the Number in Party then you will be given the option to specify the names of the three individuals in the Smith Family to whom the one invitation will be sent. The maximum number of guests allowed in a party is eight. Please note that if you select to send printed invitations to that guest, the invitation will be addressed to Smith Family.

By clicking on the "edit"/pencil icon, you can provide a mailing address (for sending printed invitations/cards) for each guest. You can also use the "postal recipients" tab to enter a specific entry, like a recipient's name, mailing address, email address and/or other details.

Adding recipients for a greeting card

Enter the name and street address of the recipient of your greeting card. Entering a company name is optional.

To add another recipient, click the "add recipient" link below the text fields.

To delete a previously added recipient, click the "delete" link.

Add your return street address to the right of the recipient's address. Select "send me a copy to the address above" if you would like a copy of the greeting card to be mailed to the provided return address, or add yourself as a recipient to receive a card.

Importing guest/recipient contact information

There are several different ways to import contact information.

Click the "Import contacts" tab within the guest list to see the various external places from where you can retrieve your contacts. To import your contacts from an online service (Gmail, Yahoo, Hotmail, AOL Mail, Outlook or Plaxo) or your Mac Address Book, simply click the radio button next to the specific service and follow the instructions that appear.

If you want to import from a Vcard or Excel file, click the appropriate radio button and import your file from your computer using the browse button that appears. If you find that your Excel file is importing with errors, please contact our support team for a sample Excel file that you can use to import your recipients.

You can import guests/recipients from previous events/ecards by choosing the "previous sends" tab and selecting the appropriate option from the "Show recipients from" drop down menu.
